โ€œI acknowledged my sin to You, and I did not hide my wickedness; I said, ‘I will confess [all] my transgressions to the Lord’; and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.โ€ Psalm 32:5(AMP)

Sometimes when we do something we shouldn’t be doing, we want to hide the whole truth from the one we are suppose to be telling the hole truth to of what we’ve done. Psalm 32:5 says, we are to tell the whole truth to God. When we do we have a blessing. We are forgiven of the sin AND the guilt of the sin. The Lord already knows every part of what we did, even to the motive* in our heart. That means He knows and understands stuff that we may not even know. But the more we confess to Him, the more He shares our heart to us, so that we confess EVERYTHING to Him, and hold nothing back from Him even in our heart.

When we hold back from God, we are telling Him, He can’t have all of our sin. We must give Him everything He paid the price for on the cross. If we went to the store, and purchased an apple, but the cashier person only gave us half the apple, we would feel robbed. Jesus paid the full price for ALL of our sins, even the consequences of our sins, so He wants us to give Him everything He paid for.

We are not to feel guilty of our sins after we repent. If we do, we are still holding on to something. We must ask the Lord what it is. It may be that we didn’t share our whole heart with the Lord. We may think we should be in โ€œtime-outโ€ for a while, or be punished for doing bad things for a while before we can be fully forgiven. These are lies of the enemy to keep us trapped in the consequences of sin.

Is there something you have done that you have not told the whole truth to the Lord? What are you holding back from confessing the whole truth to yourself?

If you went to the store and bought a jump rope, how would you feel if the cashier person only gave you half the jump rope after you paid for the whole jump rope?

What will God โ€“ Yahweh, do when we confess our whole heart to Him? What blessing will He give us?

How does it feel to hold the whole truth back from the Lord? Is it hard to tell God the whole truth?

Share with the Lord now something that you are not sharing the whole truth with Him about. Ask the Lord to help you share the whole truth even the hidden motives* in your heart.

*motives: the reason why a person does something.*
